50 years of knowledge is just a telephone call away. Selby Contract Flooring is a family business with offices and showrooms in Old Street, London EC2, and Hammersmith, London W6.
The business was started in 1998 and since then we have supplied and fitted thousands of carpets and floor coverings throughout the City of London, the West End and Greater London.
Our mission is to give our customers quality flooring, expert fitting and superb service. At the heart of our service is supplying customers with free, impartial advice. Our experience means that we are confident you will get the correct advice about your floors every time.
This includes selecting the right flooring for the foundation you are using and choosing a floor that complements your brand and décor as well as stands the test of time.
We deal with all the major flooring manufacturers so we know exactly what they sell. That means we are able to help you pick the most suitable surface for your property.
Customers we work with
We deal with customers and buildings of all shapes and sizes. During the lifetime in the business, there is hardly a floor type we haven’t covered.
Our customers include hotels, restaurants, schools, charities and just about every type of business imaginable. We work closely too with architects, designers and facility management companies. You can see what some of our customer’s say about us on the testimonials page.
We are also independent assessors for the insurance industry. This requires us to use our expertise in new flooring and the restoration of damaged flooring.
Part of our success lies with our dedicated and experienced fitting teams.
They understand the problems that laying new flooring can cause your working day. They are experienced in moving office furniture and will work at times that cause the least disruption to you and your customers – even the middle of the night if necessary! When required, we use hydraulic lifting equipment to move your furniture.
Our customer had 1,700 square meters of office space filled with 170 workstations and desks, and numerous draw units and filing cabinets.
The carpet was old, worn and dull looking. The customer was keen to replace the carpet, but did not want to disrupt its business as any down time would be very costly. After an initial site survey, a selection of new flooring was chosen. A programme was set up to replace the flooring over four weekends. All we asked of the customer was that the floor space under each desk was cleared, and free of paperwork and personal effects.
Working in a continuous line from one side of the office to the other, we moved or lifted all the furniture, removed the existing tiles and then replaced them with new tiles. The furniture was then returned to its original position. As the project was completed over four phases, all joints between the new and old floor coverings were made secure each weekend to meet Health & Safety standards.
The only difference our client’s staff knew on Monday morning was that their flooring had been changed.
