Selby Contract Flooring

From Charity to Chelsea

June 2, 2014

Well, it’s been another busy few weeks for Selby Carpets – and we have had our usual wide variety of installations this month too.

Although our work often takes us into offices, hotels and the public sector we do like to venture into residential properties. Our favourite recently is the incredible bamboo carpet we installed in an exclusive mews house in Chelsea.

It was very high spec carpets with Chilewich woven PVC flooring in the gym. But the bamboo carpet was terrific. We also installed a wool carpet on the feature staircase, creating templates and bound every step. It was very time consuming, but the effect was spectacular – and best of all, it was unbelievably soft and comfortable underfoot! Making things look fantastic and the challenges this sometimes presents is what makes our job very interesting. One of the potential buyers of the property has contacted us wanting the same flooring in their house too.

At the other end of the spectrum, but just as important to us, was our work at Caraf, a charity in Camden which provides support and advice for families whose children are experiencing emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties at school. We had given one of their rooms a facelift a year ago and were pleased to be invited back to do the whole place. This time we installed luxury vinyl tiles throughout which are not only resilient and comfortable but have made a real impact on the overall design of the centre. As a gesture of goodwill, we gave the charity a significant discount as we could tell what a great job they were doing for the children.

Yes, we have been busy. We’ve fitted offices in Surrey Quays shopping centre, the Stonewall Housing charity in Hackney, schools, colleges, universities, hotels, gyms and law chambers among others. So, if you need some inspiration, take a look at our gallery, or contact us for more information about any of our projects.
